New Delhi: The BJP's debacle in the Delhi elections will be discussed at a meeting on Sunday morning of top party leaders with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the BJP's ideological mentor.
BJP organisational secretary Ramlal, who is on deputation from the RSS to the party and coordinates between them, has been tasked with preparing a report on the defeat.
Ramlal has reportedly been holding meetings with all the BJP candidates who stood for the Delhi elections, for their feedback.
The BJP fielded 69 candidates for Delhi's 70 seats. Of these, three were members of ally Akali Dal, who contested on the BJP symbol. One Akali Dal candidate contested on his own party's symbol.
The BJP has won only three seats. The other 67 were swept by the Aam Aadmi Party in the first major blow to the ruling party after its spectacular win in the national elections in May last year.
On Tuesday, hours after the colossal defeat was confirmed, top BJP leaders like Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh, all ministers too, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take stock. BJP president Amit Shah was away in Ahmedabad for his son's wedding.
The party has to assess the impact and the implications of the Delhi result on crucial elections in Bihar later this year. It came after multiple successes for the BJP in the state elections held since the national polls and rivals have alleged that the Delhi debacle is a sign that the BJP's dream run has ended.
Mr Ramlal's report is expected to be discussed at the next meeting of the BJP's Parliamentary board - a group of its top decision makers.
Other important issues will also be discussed at Sunday's meeting with the RSS, sources said.
