In Tamil Nadu it's not just the police who are trying to make life safe for the common man, but also their spouses.
A book written by the wives of IPS officers in Chennai gives hundreds of tried and tested tips, mainly on security for women and vulnerable sections of society.
"We also have chapters on consumer protection and security. These are major concerns now. This is our modest effort to be helpful to our society," said Varsha Jain, president, IPSOWA.
"We have made it in such a way that this book comes in handy for everybody," said Ishrat Akther, joint secretary, IPSOWA.
It is already a sell out and the authors say orders for the book priced at Rs 95 have touched 10,000.
