Sasaram:
A speeding train today ran over five rail maintenance staff, including an inspector, near Kamhau railway station in Bihar's Rohtas district, an official said.
The Permanent Way Inspector (PWI) Nathu Prasad and four labourers were carrying out maintenance work on track when they were run over by the Ajmer-Sealdah Express at around 12.30 pm as they failed to see the approaching train due to poor visibility conditions, ECR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Arvind Kumar Rajak said.
The bodies have been removed from the track and brought to Sadar hospital at Sasaram for post-mortem, the East-Central Railway CPRO said.
A formal probe has been ordered into the incident, he said, adding that Sasaram railway station manager Arvind Kumar and other officials rushed to the spot.
The train, running six hours late, left for its onward destination even as there was no disruption in railway traffic.
