A single-seater trainer aircraft crashed in Maharashtra's Pune district on Monday and the woman trainee pilot, Bhavika Rathod, suffered injuries, the police said.
The incident took place in the Kadbanwadi area of Indapur tehsil after the small aircraft developed a technical fault.
The aircraft crashed in an open field at around 11:30 am, and the pilot received minor injuries and was later admitted to a primary health centre in Shelgaon. A police official said the aircraft was damaged after the crash.
The aircraft belonged to the Academy of Carver Aviation, a private aviation school in Maharashtra's Baramati and it had taken off from the Baramati airport in Pune.
Vaibhav Shah, financial in-charge at the Carver aviation, said the incident took place during a training session and the skillful pilot was able to safely crash land the aircraft.
Union civil aviation minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia said, the incident is unfortunate and he is "praying for the recovery of injured pilot, Ms Bhavika Rathod."
He said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident.
