Kolkata: Trinamool lawmaker Abhishek Banerjee underwent a surgery today for "orbital floor fracture" he had suffered during a car accident last week.
The operation continued for around three and a half hours. During the operation the patient showed no cardiac problem nor any neuro problem and both his BP and pulse were maintained throughout, a medical bulletin released by the hospital, where he is admitted, said.
A 12-member team of surgeons conducted the surgery under the guidance and supervision of senior physician Prof Dr Sukumar Mukherjee.
The surgery was extremely difficult requiring specialised skill considering the nature of the injury. However, it was uneventful and went very well throughout, it stated.
"As per protocol, for the next seven days Abhishek Banerjee, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew, shall be under strict observation for post-operative care, covering pain relief, infection control etc. No visitors shall be allowed for at least next 72 hours," Belle Vue Clinic CEO P Tondon said.
