Tripura Donates Rs 1 Crore to Flood-Hit Jammu and Kashmir

Agartala: The Tripura government will contribute Rs 1 crore for the relief of flood-affected people of Jammu and Kashmir, a state minister said in Agartala on Wednesday.

"Like for the Uttarakhand natural catastrophe last year, Tripura with its limited resources has decided to donate Rs1 crore towards the relief of flood-stricken people of Jammu and Kashmir," Tripura Information and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bhanu Lal Saha told reporters.

He said that the Tripura council of ministers, at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, took the decision after discussing the colossal floods and trail of destruction in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, as part of its nationwide move, the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has also appealed to the people of Tripura to donate generously for the distressed people of the flood-ravaged state.

The CPI-M leaders and workers are now visiting door-to-door to collect donations from the public.
