The elite National Investigation Agency or NIA, which is probing Sunday's multiple blasts in Bodh Gaya, is reportedly looking into a twitter account which has been used to tweet a warning that Mumbai will be the next terror target.
But, sources say that not much importance is being attached to it as investigators say that the account, purported to belong to the terror outfit Indian Mujahideen or IM, appears to be fake.
Press Trust of India has quoted an officer of the Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad as saying that while initial assessment suggests that the account does not appear to be genuine, "All the officers of the ATS have been instructed to be alert and the city police has been asked to ensure tight security," the official said.
Hours after Sunday's serial blasts at the Mahabodhi temple in Bihar's Bodhgaya, the account, which claims to be the IM's official Twitter account, tweeted: "9
Dhamake Humne Karay (We carried out the nine blasts)".
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had said on Monday that the number of blasts were later revised to ten.
The tweet about Mumbai - dated July 5, two days before the Bihar blasts - reads, "
Hamara Agla Target Mumbai Hai. Rock Sago Toh Rock Lo, 7 days Left (Our next target is Mumbai. Stop us if you can. Seven days left)."
A senior Mumbai cop refused to respond to the twitter post but said, "Going by the current situation, we have sensitised our policemen and appropriate steps are being taken to ensure security at vulnerable places. We have also alerted the security men at vital locations."
