New Delhi: Twitter users reacted to former cricketer Chetan Chauhan being appointed chairman of the National Institute of Fashion Technology or NIFT, stitching elaborate jokes and making the 68-year-old trend on the social network for hours this morning.
Mr Chauhan, a two-time BJP lawmaker and vice-president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association or DDCA, confirmed his appointment but said he would talk about it after taking charge on Monday.
Earlier, speaking to The Indian Express newspaper, Mr Chauhan said he got the job at the fashion institute because of his cricketing and banking experience.
Giving a breakdown of his work schedule, Mr Chauhan told the newspaper: "I will spend 60 per cent of the time in DDCA, 20 per cent at NIFT and 20 per cent in my business."
People on Twitter took little time to weigh in on the news, speculating about future appointments as well.
