Two three-year-old girls, who are cousins, were allegedly raped by their neighbour at Meerapur in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar District on Monday.
The girls were reportedly playing in their house, when they were taken away and allegedly raped by a 50-year-old man who lives nearby.
The children later told their family, who went to the police. The police have arrested the alleged rapist.
The incident took place around 4 pm. The girls were playing. The FIR (First Information Report) says that the neighbour's daughter-in-law took them away and the girls were raped inside their house," said Rakesh Kumar Jauli, a senior police officer. The police say the accused man was drunk when he allegedly assaulted the children.
A case has been filed under a stringent law on sexual crimes against children.
In Fatehpur's Bindki, the naked body of a 6-year-old girl was recovered from an isolated area. The parents claim the child had been abducted on Monday from venue of a wedding they had gone to attend.
