Two dead after accident during rath yatra in Maharashtra

Kolhapur: At least two people have died, and four are reported injured during a "rath yatra" in Maharashtra's Kolhapur area.

Early reports say that a rope broke, allowing the rath or chariot to run over three people.   Reports of a stampede were denied by local officials.

The rath yatra takes place once every 12 years.
