Aurangabad, Bihar:
Two people were killed and five others wounded after police opened fire on a group of people protesting against arrest of some persons in Bihar's Aurangabad district.
The police firing took place this afternoon near Madanpur police station where protestors burnt official vehicles in an adjoining government office.
"Police were forced to open fire when a mob attacked them, set ablaze their vehicles and targeted the office of the block development officer in Madanpur of Aurangabad following arrest of a man, suspected to be a Maoist," a district police official told Indo-Asian News Service.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital while additional police personnel have been deployed in the area.
The situation in the area is tense but under control.
