Los Angeles: Two Indian-Americans have been arrested in the US in connection with the shooting death of another Indian-American.

Pardeep Singh, 21, and Kultar Singh Dhatt, 22, were arrested in Turlock, California, on suspicion of murdering Amritpal Sandhu on Wednesday, The Modesto Bee reported.

Sandhu's family said he had come home from work just after midnight on Tuesday when he received a call from someone and then left home. The family didn't know who called Sandhu.

Authorities said Sandhu, 22, called for help early on Wednesday, telling the California Highway Patrol dispatcher that someone was shooting at him along Highway 99 near Turlock.

Police responding to the area found Sandhu in a white Infiniti that had hit a curb. He had been shot and was declared dead at the scene.

Lewis said yesterday that police had not established how Sandhu and his attackers came to be at that intersection, but she noted that several streets connect the area to Highway 99.
