Samastipur: Two people from Bihar have offered their services to hang Pakistani gunman Ajmal Kasab who was awarded capital punishment by a Mumbai court earlier this month.

Saroj Kumar and Arvind alias Doman, both hailing from Samastipur, have written to President Pratibha Patil volunteering to execute Kasab, the lone terrorist caught alive for the 26/11 attacks that claimed 166 lives.

Presently there are only two hangmen in the country and one of them is Mammu Singh from UP, whose father had executed one of the killers of Indira Gandhi.

"We have heard from media reports that there is no hangman in Maharashtra to carry out the special court order on May 6 and we would like to volunteer our services for the purpose," they said in the letter.

RJD worker Saroj and former village head Arvind said they sought to do this in the service to the nation. They have also sent copies of the letter to the Union Home Ministry and the Maharashtra government.

Interestingly, Saroj and Arvind belonged to the same district as that of Nata Mallik, a hangman who died last year and had carried out the death sentences in Kolkata jail.
