A police constable and two suspected gangsters, who allegedly killed a constable and a home guard yesterday morning, were killed in an encounter in Nalgonda District, Telangana today, say officials.
Two police personnel - a Circle inspector and Sub-inspector - have also been injured in the encounter with the suspected attackers at Atmakur in Nalgonda, said Aurag Sharma, Director General of Police.
The police had been on a look out for the suspected criminals after they reportedly opened fire on the police team who were conducting a routine check of vehicles shortly after mid-night on Wednesday. Two security personnel were killed and two injured in the incident which occurred at Suryapet town.
The attackers, who reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident, were caught early today morning while trying to escape the sealed state borders, say police.
Special teams were formed to trace the culprits, who the police believe, belonged to Odisha.
