Guwahati:
Two NDFB-Sonbijit militants were killed in an encounter with a joint police and army team in lower Assam's Chirang district today, a police official said.
The militants exchanged fire with the security forces in the Chirang reserve forest, 7 km North-west of Selaguri, IGP LR Bishnoi said.
The militants were yet to be identified, Bishnoi said, adding an M-16 rifle, an AK series rifle and an Insas rifle were recovered from the slain.
One person kidnapped by the extremist outfit was also rescued during the encounter, he added.
