Srinagar: Two militants were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Keran sector near the Line of Control in Kashmir as they were trying to exfiltrate to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), a defence spokesman said today.
The two militants were killed during an operation launched by army in Keran sector of Kupwara district yesterday following a specific input about their movement in the area, the spokesman said.
He said the militants were trying to exfiltrate from the Valley to PoK.
The identity of the slain militants was not immediately know, the spokesman said, adding two weapons have been recovered from the scene of the encounter.
He said the operation was in progress till reports last came in.
