Srinagar: A major encounter is on between security forces and a group of terrorists who have holed up inside a farmhouse in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Police say two terrorists have been killed so far. One of them has been identified as Abu Okasha, a Lashkar-e Taiba commander who was wanted for the terror attack on a BSF convoy last year in Udhampur.

Today's encounter started after the security forces launched an operation around a farm where the terrorists were hiding.

"Two terrorists, including Abu Okasha, have been killed in the encounter. The operation is going on," said Javid Gilani, inspector general of police, Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources say at least 5-6 terrorists are still holed in the area. They have fled from the farm and have taken shelter in a nearby village.

Police sources say heavy exchange of firing is going on. A security forces personal has also been injured in the encounter.
