Two-year-old Varanasi blast victim identified

Varanasi: After the Varanasi blast, NDTV brought you the story about how a two-year-old girl's parents went missing. Now she has been identified, but her parents are still missing.

The girl now has a name, Gauri. The parents are still missing, but the police now claim they may have abandoned her at Sheetla Ghaat, just before the blast.

After the child's picture was flashed on television screen, a man named Gorakh Rajbhar came forward and identified her. He says her parents are his tenants and have been missing since the day of the blast.

"We saw her picture in the newspaper and went to look for her. When we went there she was wearing a cap, she looked at us and we recognised her and brought her back," said Gorakh.

His grandmother, who said the family was busy with a wedding, added, "When I went to hold her, she drew her arms towards me."

Now the police are looking for the father of the child who worked as a security guard at a private agency.
