Tezpur:
A leader of ULFA's medical wing operating in Myanmar surrendered before the Army in Assam's Tezpur on Wednesday.
Rajib Saikia alias Mike Anthony (28) surrendered before the Eastern Command Counter Intellegence Unit.
A resident of Kopahtoligaon of Jorhat district, Rajib had joined the outfit in 1998 and went to Myanmar in 2002 to receive medical and arms training, defence sources said.
He was put in charge of the ULFA's medical wing in 2004 and since then he had been providing health care to cadres at its three camps in Myanmar, they added.
Rajib, talking to reporters here, said he was convinced that the ULFA was fighting a lost battle and appealed to all his colleagues to shun violence and join the mainstream.
