Uncle in, Jagan Mohan Reddy supporters out of Cabinet

Hyderabad: Thirty-nine ministers took oath today as Kiran Kumar Reddy's Andhra Pradesh Cabinet was sworn at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad.

16 of these 40 ministers (including Chief Minister Kiran Reddy) are from Telangana, 15 from coastal Andhra while nine are from Rayalaseema region.

Eleven of those picked for the new Cabinet were not part of the Rosaiah team.

The most interesting inclusion is the man who took oath last as the ministers were sworn in in alphabetical order - Vivekananda Reddy. He is the brother of the late YSR and the uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, the rebel that quit the Congress earlier this week, not least because of the favour shown to Vivekananda by the new Chief Minister.

There have been reports of heated scenes behind closed Reddy doors.

With the threat of Jagan breaking the Congress ranks looming large, Kiran Kumar Reddy is looking to play a smart game of politics. While the Reddy family has seen a split with Vivekananda Reddy's inclusion, Jagan's supporters in the earlier ministry have been shown the door this time.

And some berths in the ministry are being left vacant as a carrot for ministerial hopefuls so that they do not cross over to the Jagan camp.

As the new Cabinet is sworn in, Jagan Mohan Reddy is in Kadapa watching the latest unfold in this political drama.
