Lucknow: Pandhari Yadav, Special Secretary to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has been transferred out after reports that his role in the multi-crore Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scam could be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Mr Yadav was district Magistrate of Sonbhadra, one of the districts that saw massive corruption to the tune of Rs 300 crore in the scheme.

Money was allegedly siphoned off and construction of check dams was shown only on paper.

The CBI yesterday lodged Preliminary Enquiries into the scam after the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court ordered an investigation into the implementation of the scheme in the seven districts of Sonbhadra, Mahoba, Balrampur, Mirzapur,Kushinagar and Siddharthnagar.
