Chandigarh:

The practice of setting free pigeons from cages by VIPs at functions should be stopped, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today said.

Stating that it is unfair to keep helpless birds in cages, Mr Vij said he will take up the matter in this regard with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

"It is unfair to keep helpless birds in cages just to honour a VIP. I have decided to take up the matter with the Chief Minister to put an end to this tradition," he said.

Mr Vij, who was the chief guest at the 'Annual Athletic Meet' in Government Post-Graduate College (Ambala Cantonment) yesterday refused to follow the practice of setting free pigeons from cages when the organizers asked him to do so.
