Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said the central government will introduce a bill on arbitration in the winter session of Parliament.
The government wants to make India a global hub for arbitration, Rijiju said at a programme where President Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stones for the National Law University, a multilevel parking and an advocates'' chamber at the Allahabad High Court.
"After the university is established, 180 students in LLB and 80 in LLM will be admitted every year," the law minister said.
He said apart from this, arrangements will be made for legal research at the university and hostel facilities will be available for all within the campus.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre wants to work closely with all law universities and academies, the minister said, adding that the government is committed to strengthening the legal system of the country.
Mr Rijiju said the central government wants to work in coordination with the judiciary.
It also wants to coordinate with state governments so that issues faced by lower courts can be analysed, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the university will be dedicated to the country's first President Dr Rajendra Prasad, who had a deep connection with Allahabad.
The Chief Minister said the Chief Justice of India will be a "visitor" to the university.
"I assure that for any kind of development, modernisation and technological upgrade, the state government will extend full cooperation," he said.
Yogi Adityanath also said the state government has sanctioned Rs 70 crore for digitisation in subordinate courts.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 30 crore for the purchase of computers for the High Court, Rs 20 crore for subordinate courts and Rs 18 crore for judicial officers.
Addressing the programme, Governor Anandiben Patel said, "It is the president's special attachment to Uttar Pradesh that on August 25 he laid the foundation stone of AYUSH University in Gorakhpur and today he laid the foundation stone of a law university in Allahabad."
