Balia, Uttar Pradesh: The death toll in the boat capsize incident in Uttar Pradesh has reached 60, with rescue teams recovering more bodies.
Authorities near the accident site at village Dubahar in Balia district say the death toll is likely to climb even further.
A boat with 70 passengers on-board capsized in river Ganga at Ballia in eastern Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
The passengers, who belonged to four families, were reportedly participating in a religious ritual when the boat flipped over.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has announced Rs 1 lakh compensation for the kin of all those killed in the mishap.
