Uttar Pradesh police today conferred the DG's commendation disc and awarded Rs 50,000 each to the two constables who intercepted and nabbed one of the armed men involved in the jailbreak in Patiala in which a Khalistani terror outfit chief and five other prisoners had escaped.
"Constables Shahzad Ali and Dipanshu Tyagi have been conferred DGs commendation disc for their outstanding gallant act in nabbing Punjab fugitive," DGP Javeed Ahmad said.
Both the constables will also be given Rs 50 thousand each for their act of bravery, he said.
Parwinder Singh Pinda, one of the armed men involved in the sensational jailbreak, was arrested on Sunday from Kairana area in Shamli district in western UP.
Parwinder Singh Pinda was travelling in an SUV when his vehicle was intercepted by police at a check post in Kairana.
Police has recovered an SLR and three other rifles from his possession and a number of cartridges.
ADG (law and order) Daljeet Choudhury said police had heightened security as it had apprehensions that the accused in the jailbreak may try to flee to Nepal.
Parwinder Singh Pinda has confessed to his involvement during questioning, the ADG claimed, adding that he was also allegedly wanted in connection with the murder of a policeman.
Khalistan Liberation Front militant outfit Harminder Singh Mintoo escaped along with five other prisoners after armed men in police uniform stormed the high-security Nabha prison in Patiala in Punjab, which is about 175 km from Kairana.
