UP Election 2022, 4th Phase Voting Highlights: UP Records 61.65% Turnout Till 5 PM

UP Election 2022 Highlights: Voting for the remaining three phases of the seven-phase UP elections will take place on February 27, March 3, and 7.

The Phase 4 of Uttar Pradesh assembly election, in which voting was held in 59 constituencies including Lakhimpur Kheri and Lucknow today, recorded 61.65 per cent average turnout till 5 pm, as per the revised figure.

Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni, whose son Ashish Mishra is an accused in the farmers' murder case, cast his vote in Lakhimpur Kheri, amid chaos while surrounded by scores of police personnel.

Uttar Pradesh Law Minister Brajesh Pathak who is facing Samajwadi Party candidate and two-time Corporator Surendra Singh Gandhi in the Lucknow Cantonment seat is among the prominent contender in this phase.

The polling began in all the nine districts at 7 am and concluded at 6 pm.

As a last-minute effort, all political parties held intense election campaigns on Monday in Uttar Pradesh for the fourth phase of Assembly polls which ended in the evening on the same day.

Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a multi-cornered contest with Congress, BJP, Samajwadi Party (SP)-Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) alliance, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as principal contenders.

Voting for the remaining three phases of the seven-phase UP elections will take place on February 27, March 3, and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.

In a veiled attack at the previous Uttar Pradesh governments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that history has shown that the state is not secure in the hands of family-oriented political parties. UP Polls Phase 4: UP Turnout Till 5 PM Revised To 60.51%

Farmer Leader Rakesh Tikait Slams BJP For Not Meeting Farmers After 13 Months' Protest
"Do we need such a government," farmer leader Rakesh Tikait wondered today as he slammed the BJP government, accusing it of not meeting farmers after 13 months of their protest in Delhi. The Centre held 11 rounds of formal dialogue in Delhi with a delegation of farmer leaders of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), which had spearheaded the over-a-year-long stir against the now-repealed three farm laws. UP Polls: Will Not Let Cows Be Slaughtered, Says Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today promised to enhance the security of cows, while also ensuring that the state government will help protect farmers' fields from stray cattle. Mr Adityanath asserted that 'gaushalas' (cow shelters) will be built on a large scale to protect cows. "We have completely stopped illegal slaughterhouses. I promise that we will not let 'Gaumata' be slaughtered while we'll also protect fields of farmers from stray cattle," the chief minister said, addressing a rally in the Tiloi assembly constituency of Amethi. Launching a scathing attack on Akhilesh Yadav, BJP national president J P Nadda today said the Samajwadi Party chief betrayed the people of UP by withdrawing cases against those booked under terrorism charges. UP Polls: Uttar Pradesh Records 57.45% Voter Turnout Till 5 PM
Uttar Pradesh recorded an average voter turnout of 57.45 per cent till 5 pm in the fourth phase of the ongoing Assembly elections. According to the Election Commission of India, the highest voter turnout was recorded in Lakhimpur Kheri with 62.45 per cent till this time followed by Pilibhit with 61.42 per cent. Lucknow recorded 54.98 per cent turnout till 5 pm.

UP Polls Phase 4: Voting Resumes In Lakhimpur's Kadipur Sani After Brief Interruption
Voting resumed after a brief interruption of two hours in the Kadipur Sani area of Lakhimpur Kheri after adhesive was thrown at the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) during the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections today, according to police officials. The incident took place at booth number 109 of Kadipur Sani. The police have registered an FIR against the unidentified accused. Polling was halted for nearly 2 hours after which the EVM was replaced and the voting resumed once again. The voters expressed their anger over the interruption in the voting process. According to the voters, they waited for casting their vote for two hours due to the interruption. (ANI)

UP Polls: Uttar Pradesh Records 49.89% Voter Turnout Till 3 PM
Uttar Pradesh recorded an average voter turnout of 49.89 per cent till 3 pm in the fourth phase of the ongoing Assembly elections. According to the Election Commission of India, the highest voter turnout was recorded in Pilibhit with 54.83 per cent till this time followed by Lakhimpur Kheri with 52.92 per cent. Meanwhile, Hardoi continued to witness low voter turnout till 3 pm with 46.29 per cent followed by Unnao with 47.29 per cent. The other constituencies - Sitapur recorded 50.33 per cent, Lucknow 47.62 per cent, Rae Bareli 50.84 per cent, Banda 50.08 per cent, and Fatehpur 52.60 per cent. (ANI)
