Live UP Election Results: PM Modi gives victory speech at BJP headquarters in Delhi

Lucknow:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that after five years of service, we went to the people of India with a promise of a "New India". He said, "Today we see that crores and crores of people have showed that they have filled this poor man's jhola with their blessing to do so." 

He recorded a spectacular victory in Varanasi and won by a margin of 4,75,754 votes.

The Congress Party was ahead only in seat (Raebareli) in Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi lost his seat Amethi to BJP leader Smriti Irani.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said alert voters have rejected the "opportunistic and casteist" politics of mahagathbandhan forged by the opposition parties.

PM Modi thanks people of Varanasi for victory
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi today thanked the people of Varanasi as he retained the seat by a margin of over 4.79 lakh votes.
  • He said that the people of Kashi are "remarkable".
  • He said "When I had gone to Kashi to file my nomination papers, they confidently said that they would manage the entire campaign without me having to come back even once. I bow to the citizens of Kashi. Looking forward to serving them.
  • He won the seat by a margin of 4,79,505 votes, defeating his nearest rival Shalini Yadav of Samajwadi Party

  • Yogi Adityanath said alert voters have rejected the "opportunistic and casteist" politics of mahagathbandhan forged by the opposition parties.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi fought his toughest battle yet in Amethi, the constituency in Uttar Pradesh that he has been winning effortlessly since 2004, as votes were counted on Thursday for the national election. In a see-saw battle since morning, the BJP's Smriti Irani is leading. Rahul Gandhi is also contesting from Wayanad in Kerala, where he is leading.

Election 2019: RLD's Ajit Singh leads in Muzaffarnagar, son Jayant Chaudhary trails in Baghpat

In yet another upset for the SP-BSP-RLD alliance, BJP's Dr. Satyapal Singh is leading in Baghpat against RLD's Jayant Chaudhary.
