Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: A 35-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh has alleged that she has suffered a miscarriage after she was beaten by a police officer during a protest yesterday.
The woman, a resident of Bijnor district, says she had gone to the police station along with some other women to protests against the detention of a man from their village.
As they were protesting, she has alleged, the station officer allegedly manhandled some women.
During the scuffle, the woman says, she suffered serious internal injuries that caused the miscarriage. She has been admitted to a hospital for medical tests.
No FIR has been lodged against the accused police officer yet. He continues to remain on duty. The district police claim they are enquiring into the incident.
