New Delhi:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that lack of leadership in the UPA government was affecting the economic environment of the country.
"The biggest problem faced by the country today is the lack of leadership in the government," BJP leader Arun Jaitley said on Monday, delivering a lecture on the present political situation.
"People feel that the government does not have the leadership to take decisions," he said.
"In UPA 1, we used to say that there is a parallel power center outside government, but in UPA 2, there are ideological differences within government and so they are not able to take simple decisions," said Jaitley, leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, adding this situation was affecting the economic environment.
"Such situation leads to economic weakness. The enthusiasm of economy is breaking. Our international image is being maligned..." he said.
"India had emerged as a destination for investment, now people think that investing outside is better," he said.
