New Delhi:
The Uphaar tragedy became a show of solidarity when families of the victims came together on Sunday with a different sort of protest against the delay in justice for their lost ones.
A concert was organised to remember the victims of the Uphaar fire tragedy and to salute the spirit of those, who struggled for 11 years to get justice for them.
Even after the final verdict was delivered last year, the 24 families of the victims are still working to ensure that the guilty do not escape punishment.
",I lost my sister in the event. I still remember the incident, though faintly. The government is not doing enough for this case,", said Shagun Sahane, relative of a victim.
Singer Shubha Mudgal shared the pain of the distraught families.
",I lost my father so I know that music can help. I feel music is like a companion. It helps in healing the wounds,", said Mudgal.
The Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy now want to make their struggle count.
",We are planning to make public places more safe. Young people have to take an initiative. They must boycott places that are unsafe,", said Neelam Krishnamoorty, president, Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy.
",The song Kuch Na Kaho will make people think that when injustice happens, someone has to raise a voice,", said Geeta Kochchar, relative of a victim.
