People take part in Mohammed Sadiq's funeral procession in Doda.
Doda:
A 15-year-old boy, unhappy over his class 10 result which was declared a few days ago, reportedly killed himself in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district last week.
Mohammed Sadiq was unhappy over not being able to match the academic achievements of his elder siblings who were both toppers, relatives told NDTV. One of them is studying to be a doctor and the other an engineer, they said.
The boy wanted to score over 90 per cent marks in the Class X exam but ended with 74 per cent. His family said they had suggested they apply for re-evaluation of the papers but a few days after the results, Sadiq killed himself.
"I was happy but he was perhaps not. I told him you don't worry we will go for revaluation but he said he is sure he got 40 marks less and he will kill himself," Mohammad Malik, Sadiq's father. The boy's family is devastated that he actually did.
"10 days back, the matriculation results were announced. Three days later Sadiq committed suicide. We have started investigations under 174 CrPC and an inquiry is underway," said Zahid Manhas, SSP Doda. The police said they did not find a suicide note and have begun investigations.
