Urban Mobility Conference to Start Tomorrow

New Delhi: Seeking to bring in best urban policies from across the globe to urban local bodies, a four-day conference on the theme of 'transforming mobility for livability' will be held tomorrow.

The event would be inaugurated by Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.

About 1,200 delegates from India and 50 from abroad including, mayors, municipal commissioners, experts, town planners, designers, architects will be attending the conference.

United Nations Environment Programme is partnering with the Urban Development Ministry in organising the meet.

The conference seeks to bring the best practices across the globe to the knowledge of all stakeholders.

It also facilitates states and urban local bodies to forge agreements of cooperation for technology support with concerned agencies and organisations.

The deliberations will focus on multi-modal integration, traffic engineering and safety, real time traffic modelling, climate change in transportation, pedestrians and mode choice in transport, land use planning, inclusive uses of road space, strategies for low-carbon transport and shaping the future cities.
