A US based security firm has offered expertise to the West Bengal government for security of the metropolis under its 'Safe City' project.
The company, Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems, is a provider of intelligence and information solutions, specializing in ground processing, unmanned ground systems and cyber security operations.
Officials of the US company gave a presentation before Chief Secretary Ardhendu Sen, Home Secretary Samar Ghosh, DGP Naparajit Mukherjee and Kolkata Police Commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakraborty at Kolkata Police Headquarters on Thursday.
The Home Secretary said the 'Safe City' project comprised specialized training, steps against trafficking, disaster management and railway security.
The presentation also included measures against sudden attacks by extremists, Ghosh said.
The company would make the initial investment to install its technology and later recover it from the user in terms of annuity, Ghosh said.
