US had prior warnings on David Headley: Report

New Delhi: The US had more warnings of David Headley's involvement in the Mumbai attacks, says a New York Times report.

The report says, 26/11 conspirator Headley's second wife, a Moroccan citizen, told the American Embassy in Islamabad about his involvement with Jihadi groups, and that he was plotting an attack. (Read the report)

This was in 2007, less than a year before the Mumbai attack.

Yesterday, a Washington Post article said that Headley's first wife had informed the FBI about his links to the Lashkar-e-Toiba in 2005, during a domestic assault inquiry. (Read: FBI got tip-off on Headley's activities in 2005?)

Despite those warnings by two of his three wives, Headley roamed freely, working for Lashkar between 2002 and 2009, scouting targets for attacks and building a network of connections that extended from Chicago to Pakistan's lawless northwestern frontier, says the report.
