US statement on fisherman killed by navy in Dubai

New Delhi: India has asked the UAE to register a case against the US navy after one of its ships opened fire on a boat off Dubai. A fisherman from Tamil Nadu was killed; three others from the same state were injured.

The US embassy issued a statement today saying it is investigating the incident. Here's the full statement:

The Embassy of the United States of America would like to convey its condolences to the families of the crew of a small motor vessel, which came under fire from the USNS Rappahannock on July 16, after the vessel disregarded non-lethal warnings and rapidly approached the US ship. We wish to inform you that the incident is under investigation
