Lucknow: A team of Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police is likely to visit Mumbai after Diwali to further probe on the leads provided by three persons, alleged to be linked with a member of Chhota Rajan gang, a senior officer said here today.
Inspector General of STF, Sujit Pandey said, "An STF team is likely to visit Mumbai after Diwali." He added that the arrested members have revealed some important information.
On being asked about underworld don's gang connection with UP, he said its several members had been arrested in 1990s.
"All the members are listed and we keep on monitoring their activities from time to time. The gang had old connection with UP," Mr Pandey said.
Three criminals, alleged to have links with Chhota Rajan gang, were arrested by the STF from George Town area in Allahabad on November 1.
"Indresh Kumar Singh, Mohd Saleem alias Shekhu and Ramesh Kumar Bind were arrested from George Town area last evening and fire-arms along with a jeep and motorcycle," an official spokesman had said.
Mr Pandey said that on interrogation, the arrested criminals revealed that they worked for Azad Ansari alias Ejaz, who is currently serving life term in Naini jail in a murder case.
He had said that Ejaz was an active member of Chhota Rajan gang. "Ejaz had been in Mumbai for a long time since the age of 13 years," the officer said.
