Lucknow: In a bid to check accidents, the Uttar Pradesh government has directed the transport department to strictly implement road safety rules.
During a review meeting on Friday, the Transport Minister Raja Mahendra Aridaman Singh directed the transport officials to ensure a check on overloaded vehicles.
He also asked them to take strong action against people who ride motorcycles without helmets.
The minister also directed the officials to take special caution while issuing driving licences and set up a toll free helpline within a month, where the public can lodge complaints.
