Uttar Pradesh health scam: Third chargesheet filed

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed its third chargesheet in Uttar Pradesh's National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) scam.

The chargesheet filed has been filed against three people in what the CBI terms as bungling in purchase of 951 computers and peripherals, that were purchased from the funds meant for the NRHM.

G.K.Batra, then MD, Shreetron India Ltd, Virender Goel, Proprietor off M/s Axis Marketing and Neeraj Upadhyay, Proprietor of M/s Radhey Shyam Enterprises have been named in the chargesheet.

The CBI states a loss of Rs 2.78 crores due to their role.

On Wednesday, former state government officer SP Ram, along with three others, was named in the CBI's second chargesheet.

Mr Ram had allegedly violated the rules to procure medical kits.

The CBI had registered five cases on January 2 against certain government and private sector officials, including one against former minister, who was sacked by Mayawati, Babu Singh Kushwaha alleging loss of about Rs. 28 crore in implementing the Centrally-sponsored scheme meant for 72 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
