Uttar Pradesh minister on Allahabad stampede: highlights
The Uttar Pradesh minister Balram Yadav has laid down the steps being taken by the government to help those affected in last night's stampede in which 36 people were killed at the Allahabad railway  station.

Below are the highlights:

  • It's our responsibility to take care of the injured and the family of the deceased. There have to be medical facilities.
  • It's also our responsibility to send the pilgrims back to their destination.
  • Yesterday, Shahi Snan was very successful and we hope that we can also carry out the 15th February event successfully
  • It's our responsibility to handle the situation better now.
  • The government has started extra buses; extra trains have started for the pilgrims.
  • There are still a lot of pilgrims in the city.
  • All arrangements will be better provided. Everything is being double checked.
  • The probe has been set up to find out who is to be blamed for the mishap. The report has not come in.
  • There have been a lot of people in the city. People were staying for a long time.
  • No sadhu or pilgrim has suffered any discomfort in the city
  • Our priority is to send pilgrims home. It's the most important thing now
