Mathura:
Demanding withdrawal of VAT hike on petroleum products in the state, Uttar Pradesh Petroleum Traders Association today gave a strike call for July 28.
"To pressurise the government to withdraw the draconian order, the supply of petrol/diesel would remain suspended from 6 AM to 6 PM on July 28 at all petrol pumps," Keshav Dev Agrawal, President of UP Petroleum Traders Association, said while talking to reporters in Mathura.
"We may go on indefinite strike if the recent hike in VAT rate on petrol/diesel is not withdrawn," he added.
Following the government's decision to raise VAT, petrol is costlier by Rs 2.90 and diesel by Rs 1.72.
