Thiruvananthapuram:
Former Mizoram Governor Vakkom B Purushothaman, who was transferred to Nagaland by the National Demovratic Alliance or NDA government, has decided to resign from the post.
"The transfer was made without consulting me," he said.
Mr Purushothaman said he would convey his decision to resign to the Centre.
Talking to reporters on his arrival in last evening, Mr Purushothaman, a veteran Congress leader and former Kerala minister, said he would get actively involved with party politics, but not in electoral politics.
In a reshuffle of governors effected by the Centre on July 6, Gujarat Governor Kamala Beniwal was transferred to Mizoram while Mr Purushothaman was transferred and appointed as Governor of Nagaland. He was also given additional charge of the office of Governor of Tripura.
He was sworn-in as the Mizoram Governor on September 2, 2011.
