New Delhi:

Sources have told NDTV that Vasundhara Raje will not quit as Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan.

Earlier on Saturday in a strong message of defiance, Vasundhara Raje Scindia hoisted the national flag in the walled city area of Jaipur but significantly skipped the state BJP function right after that to celebrate Independence Day in a nearby venue.

Vasundhara had sent a huge delegation of supporters to Delhi to protest against the marching orders issued to her by the central leadership but they were snubbed by LK Advani who has been known to be a supporter of the former Chief Minister.

The central leadership has summoned Vasundhara to Delhi.

There has already been a rebellion in the Rajasthan unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party over the central leadership's decision to ask Raje to step down as Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly.

Earlier, there were reports that party president Rajnath Singh had said that the meeting of MLAs, called by Raje on Saturday in Jaipur, was illegal, as the party leadership had made it plain that it wanted her to go.
