Veteran artist Shyamal Sen, who had designed the title cards for some of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray's movies, died on Thursday of age-related issues, his family said.
He was 81 and is survived by a son and daughter.
A contemporary of eminent artists Ganesh Pyne, Ganesh Haloi, Suchibrata Deb, Sen was known for his expertise with watercolors and practiced one the most difficult forms -transparent water colours.
His early career was that of a commercial artist and had his own Shyamal Sen Design Group.
