Mumbai : Veteran playback singer Asha Bhosale today contributed Rs five lakh towards the Maharashtra Chief Minister's drought relief fund.
She met Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan at his official bungalow "Varsha" in South Mumbai and handed over the cheque to him.
The singer said it was the duty of each and every citizen to help the government in providing relief to those facing acute water scarcity and drought.
The singer added Rs four lakh to the prize money and handed over Rs five lakh to the Chief Minister.
So far, Rs 116 crore has been collected for the drought relief fund. Siddhivinayak temple trust in Mumbai and Saibaba Sansthan, Shirdi have contributed Rs 25 crore each.
