Chennai: The condition of Union Science and Technology Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for liver-related ailment, is 'critical,' hospital sources said today.
"His condition is critical. He is in the Intensive Care Unit. Doctors are attending on him," said an official in the Global Hospital at suburban Perumbakkam, where he was admitted after being brought to the city in an air ambulance yesterday.
The 67-year-old two-time Maharashtra Chief Minister is under the care of noted liver transplant surgeon Dr Mohamed Rela at the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital for a possible liver transplant.
Mr Deshmukh was rushed here after brief treatment at a hospital in Mumbai.
