Violence has erupted in Srinagar again, this time over the alleged killing of a student in police custody.
Violent protests broke out in Srinagar's Maisuma area after a 20-year-old youth Asrar Ahmed's body was found from Rainawari area. He was missing since July 3.
Residents allege he went missing in police custody but the police say he was murdered. Asrar was a second year student in Islamia college Srinagar.
Protesters threw stones, set fire to a police vehicle. Tear gas was fired to control the mob and traffic was stopped in the area but the protests are still going on and the area remains tense.
Meanwhile, prohibitory orders under Section 144, which restricts people from congregating in an area, has been imposed in parts of Srinagar.
