VIP 2 Trailer Gets 5 Million Views, Dhanush Is 'Super Thrilled'

New Delhi: Dhanush is 'super thrilled' with the overwhelming response to the trailer of his film Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 or VIP 2. The film's trailer, which released on June 25, has received 5 million (Tamil version) and 2 million (Telugu version) views. Dhanush tweeted: "Vip2 trailer reaches 5M views Tamil .. and 3M views Telugu on YouTube alone. Super thrilled with this response. Thank you so much guys (sic)" The film, which also stars Bollywood actress Kajol, is directed by Rajinikanth's daughter (and Dhanush's sister-in-law) Soundarya. Kajol plays the role a shrewd entrepreneur named Vasundhara, who wreaks havoc in the life of civil engineer Raghuvaran, played by Dhanush. But here's the catch, Raghuvaran will not deter from his stance even if it means to stand against his boss Vasundhara.

Meanwhile, VIP 2 will release as Lalkar in Hindi. Soundarya Rajinikanth told news agency IANS that it is a "strategic move to make sure the film reaches across all states."

VIP 2 is Kajol's second Tamil film - her first was Minsara Kanavu, which released in 1997. Kajol told IANS that initially she was reluctant and thought she won't be able to 'speak in another language.' However, Dhanush and Soundarya "lied to her" and gave her two "long dialogues" on the first day of the shoot. Later, Kajol thanked them "for breaking the myth (to her) that I cannot speak in another language."

VIP 2 is produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films. The film also stars Amala Paul is slated for July 28 release.
