New Delhi:
Ahead of the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, former Union minister and Congress leader Virbhadra Singh has offered to resign as the chairman of the campaign and manifesto committee of the party.
The Congress committee for Himachal Pradesh, headed by Union minister Anand Sharma, discussed the strategy for upcoming assembly election on Thursday, but veteran party leader Virbhadra Singh skipped the meeting.
According to reports, Mr Singh's supporters are unhappy with the Congress leadership for making Mr Sharma, his rival in state politics, the chairman of the poll committee.
Earlier, on June 26, Mr Singh had quit as the Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises after a Himachal Pradesh court had framed charges of corruption against him and his wife Pratibha Singh.
