Imphal: VK Duggal, a former union home secretary, was today sworn in as the new governor of Manipur.
Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, Laxmikant Mahapatra administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Duggal at a simple function at Raj Bhavan.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, his cabinet colleagues and senior civil and police officials attended the function.
Mr Duggal replaced Ashwini Kumar, who is Nagaland's Governor, and has been looking after Manipur for some months after the retirement of former incumbent Gurbachan Jagat.
Mr Duggal is the 14th Governor of Manipur.
