Beijing: Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (Retd) V K Singh will inaugurate a Yoga College set up by India in China's Yunnan Minzu University in Kunming city tomorrow.
Mr Singh arrived in the southern Yunnan province's Kunming city today to take part in China's South Asia Expo in which India is the country of honour.
Besides inaugurating the college, Mr Singh will unveil the bust of Rabindranath Tagore at the University, Indian officials said.
Yoga which has become immensely popular in China in recent years has got the official nod when Premier Li Keqiang took part in a Yoga-Tai Chi event along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here during PM Modi's visit last month.
An MOU to set up a Yoga college along with Indian teachers in Yunnan University was signed during PM Modi's visit for the first time to bring standards to thousands of Yoga teachers and institutions mushrooming all over China.
The college will provide certificate courses.
Indian Council of Cultural Relations, (ICCR) will provide two teachers to the university, Indian officials said.
Also China has permitted events to celebrate the first anniversary of UN Yoga Day on June 21 all over the country besides an international Yoga Festival near Chengdu in which a number of Indian teachers will participate.
India is organising a week long international Yoga conference in Chengdu from June 17 to 21 to mark the International Yoga Day.
Also Yoga events are being held in all cities in China to mark the day.
